The Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum is continuing the remodel of the museum store. We had a fixture sale last week for all the cases, displays, and racks that were part of the old store. The carpet should get ripped out Friday and then walls should start going up. In addition to the store remodeling, we are also starting to turn over our changing exhibits gallery for the next exhibit. Together with the U.S. Forest Service office in town, we are proud to announce that our new exhibit for 2014 is called “Untrammeled: 50 Years of Wilderness through the Viewfinder”. This exhibit will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act, as well as the 30th Anniversary of the Cloud Peak Wilderness. As you can tell from the picture, it takes 6 people to move a wall. (The sixth is behind the wall pushing). Once the walls are set up for the new configuration, the walls will get primed and repainted. Opening day for the new exhibit is to be determined.
