Christmas and Remodeling News

Yesterday the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum conducted the Neighborhoods program for the 2nd Grade at Meadowlark Elementary School. This is just one of the fun pictures we took of them matching historic photographs with present-day photographs of their neighborhood and learning about public art.

The first homeschool event was great!

Our first homeschool event was on Friday, November 15. This month’s theme was “Neighborhood Art and Place”.  Each of the participants learned the different types of neighborhood art, looked at the public art in Buffalo, and then played a match game with historic and contemporary photographs of places around town. They had a great time seeing the evidence of change over time and how public art is used.

Rock Program was a great success

Yesterday the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum and Jeb Taylor taught a rock program to the 2nd Grade classes of Meadowlark Elementary School. We had many samples or rocks to show and discuss with the students as some of them shared what they have learned this school year. Overall, we reached 90 students this year!

P1100792An upcoming event to the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum is the Monster March! Bring your witches, devils, angels, superheroes, and more to trick-or-treat along Main Street. This Chamber of Commerce event begins at the museum and continues along the east and west sides of Main Street, from 4 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 31.
