The first homeschool event was great!

Our first homeschool event was on Friday, November 15. This month’s theme was “Neighborhood Art and Place”.  Each of the participants learned the different types of neighborhood art, looked at the public art in Buffalo, and then played a match game with historic and contemporary photographs of places around town. They had a great time seeing the evidence of change over time and how public art is used.

Rock Program was a great success

Yesterday the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum and Jeb Taylor taught a rock program to the 2nd Grade classes of Meadowlark Elementary School. We had many samples or rocks to show and discuss with the students as some of them shared what they have learned this school year. Overall, we reached 90 students this year!

This Chamber of Commerce event begins at the museum and continues along the east and west sides of Main Street, from 4 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 31.

Fall Gathering Tickets are Available!

P1100644Tickets for the 30th Anniversary of the Gatchell Museum Association, Inc.’s Fall Gathering are now available at the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum or through GMA Board Members. Tickets are $30 and all proceeds go towards the museum’s endowment. Enjoy all you can eat, wine and beer tasting, and silent and live auctions with live music.

Last Weekend of Summer Hours!

This will be the last weekend for summer. Hours will be Saturday, August 31, 9 – 6, Sunday, September 1, 12 – 6, Monday, September 2, 9 – 6. Beginning on Tuesday, September 3, fall and winter hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 – 4 p.m. As Monday is Labor Day, offices will be closed.
